Rishabh Pant pulls off ‘greatest Test win’ for India

An injury-ravaged India beat Australia at their home form the first time test cricket as India chased down 328 in the fourth innings to win the 4th Test and claim the series 2-1.

Rishabh Pant (89*) hit the winning runs after a superb top order show from Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara as India won the 4th Test by 3 wickets. ‘The Australian’ newspaper said India has performed a miracle by defeating Australia at Gabba, alluding to the home side’s unbeaten record at the venue since 1988.

Rishabh Pant was the man of the hour for his match-winning unbeaten knock. From one-down, without their captain and a host of first-choice players, India completed one of the great comebacks in one of the great Test series.

After India’s success at the Gabba on Tuesday, India’s head coach in the post match virtual media conference said, “To come here and take on Australia in their own backyard, the world knows how tough it is. To go through these quarantine periods and have multiple injuries right through, to be bowled out for 36 in Adelaide and then to come back and play like absolute champions is simply unreal.”
