Shyam Steel diversifies into decorative paints; Macaw Paints launch signals growth in regional home décor market

Shyam Steel, a leading player in India’s steel sector for over 79 years, has expanded into the decorative paints industry with the launch of Macaw Paints. Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has been appointed as brand ambassador, enhancing the brand’s appeal among younger consumers and family households. With its tagline, “Macaw ke rang, magic ke sang”, the company aims to leverage its decades-long reputation for trust and quality to capture a share of India’s growing decorative paints market. The launch strategically coincided with Navratri, marking the onset of Durga Puja festivities in West Bengal, offering both cultural relevance and marketing visibility. Analysts note that Shyam Steel’s move signifies a vertical integration strategy, extending its brand equity from steel manufacturing into consumer-facing decorative solutions.

Represents a key market for early adoption. With a growing urban population, increasing disposable incomes, and rising interest in home aesthetics, local distributors expect steady demand for Macaw Paints. Festive season demand, coupled with brand recognition, is likely to drive initial sales and create opportunities for long-term market penetration.

A Shyam Steel spokesperson highlighted, “West Bengal is more than a market; it is an emotion. With Kartik Aaryan and Maa Durga’s blessings, Macaw Paints is poised to make a meaningful economic and consumer impact, extending Shyam Steel’s legacy from steel to paints.”
