125-feet long statue of Lachit Barphukan, Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives here, Assam on Saturday and unveils statue of 16th century Ahom general Lachit Borphukan in Jorhat district. The PM was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma both in Ahom attire. According to the sources, the statue is measured 125-feet long at the Lachit Barphukan Maidam Development Project in Hollongapar, which is close to Teok area in the district. Additionally, back in February 2022, former President Ram Nath Kovind had laid the statue’s foundation.

Development project to get launched by PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam and will launch development projects for the state. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma cited about the programmes that are scheduled for the upcoming days during the PM’s visit. Sudden death due to a mysterious disease in Assam

A mysterious incident has unfolded which triggered people of the state. The incident unfolded in Assam's Goalpara district killing 14 people. According to the sources, a disease unfolded within the villages of the district killing 14 people, in which 60 people were affected. Six of them are affected and are under treatment. The disease resembles symptoms of jaundice. The affected villages include No. 1 Borjhar-Nadiapara, Dwapara, Bamundanga, Tilapara, Mojaipara and Chotodamal.

Ambulance gets stuck due to ministerial convoy

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Assam for two days, March 8 and 9. An incident of ambulance is alarming in the city, Jorhat, sparking high criticism. According to the sources, an ambulance with a patient was delayed in the Tarajan area due to high security measures. To some reports, the Jorhat Police, possibly fearing repercussions from higher authorities, halted the ambulance along with pedestrians for an extended period to ensure smooth passage of the minister’s convoy. Emergency services, including ambulances carrying patients, were obstructed until the ministerial vehicle and convoy passed.

32 fake doctors held in Guwahati

Assam, Guwahati Police operated a crackdown on fraudulent medical practitioners in which many fake doctors were arrested so far. According to the sources, the fake doctor identified as Premananda Roy was involved in illicit medical activities at New Mahamaya Medicos, the pharmacy located in Lalganesh. However, along with Roy, 32 more fake doctors were arrested within the city.

Uma Chetry selected at UP Warriorz in WPL

According to the sources, Uma Chetry who is from Assam has replaced Vrinda Dinesh due to the shoulder which was played against the Mumbai Indians in Bangaluru. Assam National park rides to get closed

Assam's Kaziranga National park and Tiger Reserve Jeep Safari in the Kohora range will remain closed from March 7 to March 9, 2024. Along with the Jeep safari, elephant safari too to remain close. According to the sources, the notice was issued ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Assam. PM Modi's visit to Assam is scheduled March 8, 2024 and spend the night before taking a safari inside the park the next morning.

Assam govt led anti-drugs operation 2023, successful

Assam carried out anti-drugs operations in the state. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that last year was the most successful year for the operation. The Assam Chief Minister through a post on social media stated about the carried out operation updates on Sunday. Assam CM stated, "In 2023, Assam Police seized drugs valued at Rs 718 crore and arrested over 4,700 drug traffickers, making it the most successful year for anti-drugs operations in the state. Narendra Modi-led government has been deploying a whole-of-government approach to build a #DrugsFreeBharat."

Femina Miss India sahres post on Rinki Chakma passing away

Miss India Tripura, winner of 2017 Rinki Chakma recently passed away due to cancer at the age of 28. According to the sources, Rinki was diagnosed with cancer and has been battling for past two years. Also, after her surgery, the disease got spread into her lungs and later to her head, causing brain tumour.
