Uttar Pradesh will distribute free food rations to migrant workers and their families who have returned to the state amid the coronavirus lockdown, the state government said Sunday evening, with each person getting 3 kg of wheat and 2 kg of rice.To facilitate distribution of these rations, which will start from Monday morning, the state has said it will identify all returning migrant workers and provide them with temporary ration cards; nine lakh such cards have already been made during the lockdown.The rations will be given as part of the "Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India)" scheme, under which provision of free…

With over 1.85 lakh cases of coronavirus, India has reported more cases than Germany's 1.83 lakh and climbed to eighth from the ninth spot in the list of 10 nations worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic. The country has recorded 1,85,398 coronavirus cases as on this evening.The US has so far reported over 18 lakh cases of coronavirus, making it the nation with the most number of cases. Brazil follows with over five lakh cases, and Russia with over four lakh cases.A record single-day jump of 8,380 new patients was reported in the 24 hours till Sunday morning.

Two Killed as under Construction Well in Malappuram caves.

Two labourers died after a well under construction caved in on them here in Malappuram district on Friday. The deceased were identified as Tanur Mukkola natives Velayudhan (63) and Achutan (63). Velayudhan and Achuthan were in the well when the tragedy took place. The well caved in and large chunk of soil fell on them and buried them alive. The police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel joined hands with the local people to remove the soil with an earth mover. The bodies could be retrieved after a few hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Friday, said that the low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea may concentrate into a depression over the next 24 hours and is likely to intensify even further. A Couple Commits Suicide.

A couple ended their life by consuming pesticide at D. Dharmara village in Ramayampet mandal on late Thursday night. According to Sub- Inspector B Mahender, one M. Vijaya Kumar Reddy and Ruchita loved each other and got married, they had two children. However, Mr. Reddy’s parents did not like it and constantly heckled them. Unable to cope with it the couple decided to end their life. Police registered a case and are investigating. The sources also said that the harassment threats given by man's father was also too brutal.

China Readies National Security Law To Strip Hong Kong Of Its Autonomy.
