Uttar Pradesh will distribute free food rations to migrant workers and their families who have returned to the state amid the coronavirus lockdown, the state government said Sunday evening, with each person getting 3 kg of wheat and 2 kg of rice.To facilitate distribution of these rations, which will start from Monday morning, the state has said it will identify all returning migrant workers and provide them with temporary ration cards; nine lakh such cards have already been made during the lockdown.The rations will be given as part of the "Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India)" scheme, under which provision of free…

Two labourers died after a well under construction caved in on them here in Malappuram district on Friday. The deceased were identified as Tanur Mukkola natives Velayudhan (63) and Achutan (63). Velayudhan and Achuthan were in the well when the tragedy took place. The well caved in and large chunk of soil fell on them and buried them alive. A couple ended their life by consuming pesticide at D. Dharmara village in Ramayampet mandal on late Thursday night. According to Sub- Inspector B Mahender, one M. Vijaya Kumar Reddy and Ruchita loved each other and got married, they had two children. However, Mr. Reddy’s parents did not like it and constantly heckled them. Unable to cope with it the couple decided to end their life. Police registered a case and are investigating.
