On a visit to the US, PM Rishi Sunak increases the UK’s defence budget

During a trilateral meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and US President Joe Biden on Monday, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak affirmed an increase in Britain's defence budget of GBP 5 billion over the following two years. The AUKUS treaty, which was signed in 2021 as part of a cooperative effort to confront Chinese military might in the Indo-Pacific area, will be discussed by the world leaders, who will also decide on the specifics of a UK-US agreement to provide Australia with nuclear-powered submarines. According to Downing Street, the additional defence spending would cost GBP 3 billion.

Within three months, the SC orders the removal of the mosque from the Allahabad HC compound

The Supreme Court ordered officials to remove a mosque from the Allahabad High Court grounds within three months, telling petitioners who were opposed to the demolition that the building was on land with a terminated lease and that they could not continue to claim a legal title to it. In November 2017, the Allahabad High Court issued an order giving the petitioners, Waqf Masjid High Court and UP Sunni Central Waqf Board, three months to remove the mosque from the property. On Monday, the highest court rejected their appeal.

On Monday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma flies to Karnataka to participate in the Vijay Sankalp Rath Yatra in Koppal. After attending the event the CM visited the famous local Gavi Siddeshwar Mutt and sought blessings of Gavisiddeshwar seer. “I will not speak of politics standing in the premises of the mutt. Increase of 524 Covid cases in India in a single day

After a 113-day hiatus, India recorded 524 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 3,618, according to data provided on Sunday by the Union Health Ministry. The figures updated at 8 am showed that the death toll rose to 5,30,781 after Kerala reconciled one fatality. The total number of cases involving Covid was 4.46 crore (4,46,90,492).

First trans tea stall in the country

The Indian Railways has set up its first tea stall in Assam's Guwahati railway station. This is the first trans tea stall to open in the country. On Friday, the tea stall was inaugurated by NF Railway General Manager Anshul Gupta. According to the sources, the tea stall is opened with the collaboration of All Assam Transgender Association. Spokesperson of the transgender community Sabyasachi De said, "The idea to open the 'Trans tea stall' was generated and implemented by the North East Frontier Railway (NEFR) to empower the community".
