Govt officials caught red handed accepting bribes

Five government officials and a driver were arrested by Assam directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption on Thursday and Friday. According to the sources, the accused were caught red handed while allegedly accepting bribes. The arrest was done in different parts of the state Kamrup, Nagaon and Goalpara districts. Till March 13 Supreme Court to extend its protection

On Friday, Supreme Court extended Protection till March 13 to independent Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi from NIA arrest. The MLA was arrested for connection with a case related to Anti-CAA protests. From 4th March LPG workers on strike

On Wednesday, The Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union (APMU) has announced for a strike in Assam. The date is schedule from 4th March. According to the reports, the strike is for demanding higher remuneration and other statutory benefits. Also the workers will stop loading and unloading at seven LPG plants in Assam -- six owned by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and one by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). CID investigation for the encountered case

On February 25, a robbery was foiled near No. 1 Dhansirikhuti Daifang village under Rowta police station of Udalguri. A man was encountered during the movement. According to the sources, accused is identified as Kenaram Basumatary. To a inquiry it is claimed that he is suppose to be the wrong man encountered. Assam Chief Minister asked the Director-General of Police, G.P. Singh, to ensure the completion of the probe within two weeks. GP Singh to initiate a CID inquiry to ascertain the details.

Dimapur people continue marketing despite sealed border into Assam

The order was issued to seal all cross borders for 72 hours from February 25 to February 27 as per standard operating procedures of the Election Commission of India.
