On Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in Siliguri at a plant backed by the West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation. The factory has suffered some damage.
Steel and iron products, including iron cupboards, were created in the plant, according to reports. A fire broke out there on Tuesday morning as the workmen were working. The workers alerted their boss and attempted to put out the fire using the factory’s fire extinguisher. The fire department was notified by the factory owner. After a lengthy struggle, the fire was brought under control. A major portion of the factory had been reduced to ashes at that time. The plant has recently reopened after being closed for a lengthy time due to the lockdown.
Sandip Agarwal, the owner of the factory, said: “It’s possible that it’s due to a short circuit. For more than a year, the factory was shuttered. It’s possible that the machines are experiencing some technical difficulties as a result of this. We were already losing money because of the shutdown, and now this incident has caused me a big headache.”
Utpal Sarkar, Secretary of the West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation, said: “There were mechanical issues because the factory was closed. Many people are afraid of reopening their factories in this situation. Many people are apprehensive about reopening their units in this situation.”
