Skill India Digital sparks global interest, 20 nations seek skilling inspiration from India

India’s digital skilling revolution is attracting global attention. Today, a “who’s who” of education and skill development from 20 nations gathered in New Delhi for the “India Summit on Education Knowledge Exchange” organized by the World Bank. Their target: India’s groundbreaking Skill India Digital (SID) platform. Delegates were eager to delve into the success story of SID, launched in September 2023. Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and MD of NSDC International, showcased its impressive impact: 40 lakh registrations in six months, over 550 diverse courses, and mobile accessibility empowering diverse demographics from students to professionals.

“SID serves as a one-stop shop for skilling, reskilling, and upskilling,” Mr. Tiwari declared, highlighting its role in driving India’s economic engine. He emphasized the platform’s integration with Aadhar and UPI, lauded as successful models demonstrating the power of knowledge and digital capabilities in a competitive global landscape. Shri. Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of the MSDE, resonated with Mr. Tiwari’s message. He linked India’s soft power to its knowledge and digital expertise. “Our Prime Minister champions skilling to empower youth and bridge the skill-job gap,” he stated. “SID excels in this, reaching every corner of the country and providing daily new learning opportunities.”

The summit wasn’t just about showcasing India’s success. It fostered a spirit of collaboration. True to its G20 theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” India shared its expertise openly. “We’re happy to support other nations,” asserted Mr. Tiwari. “Representatives expressed keen interest in adapting models like SID, indicating a global push towards a future-ready workforce.” The summit concluded with a renewed commitment to utilizing technology for a transformed skilling landscape. India’s leadership in digital skilling through SID has undoubtedly positioned it as a key player in this crucial global endeavor. As more nations seek India’s expertise, the platform’s impact is poised to extend far beyond its borders, paving the way for a more skilled and competitive global workforce.
