Skill India initiative boosts global career paths for healthcare professionals

Today, in a significant stride towards enhancing global career opportunities for Indian healthcare professionals, 32 skilled nurses were honored by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. These professionals successfully completed the B1 level of German language training under the Skill India International initiative, aiming to equip them with essential language skills for thriving careers in Germany.

The comprehensive two- to three-month residential program, conducted by native German trainers, prepares candidates from backgrounds in B.Sc. Nursing or General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) for lucrative employment prospects abroad. Speaking at the felicitation ceremony, Minister Jayant Chaudhary highlighted the initiative’s role in bridging global skill gaps and transforming India into a powerhouse of skilled talent.”With approximately 18 lakh job opportunities projected in Germany due to an ageing population, our focus on skilled migration is crucial,” remarked Minister Chaudhary. He emphasized the pivotal role of skilled Indian professionals in shaping global healthcare standards, underscoring each recipient as a changemaker and ambassador of India.

The ceremony also witnessed praise from German Ambassador Dr. Philipp Ackermann, who lauded India’s robust skilling ecosystem and its contribution to meeting Germany’s healthcare demands. The event concluded with the officials flagging off the candidates, now equipped with B1 certifications, on their journey to lucrative placements in leading German hospitals.
