Society Cannot Progress Without Scientific Thinking, Says Tripura Minister

On National Science Day, Tripura’s Science and Technology Minister Animesh Debbarma encouraged the community to regard science and technology as a social responsibility rather than just academic pursuits. Speaking at a program in Agartala, he highlighted the necessity of scientific thinking for societal progress, asserting that modern conveniences are products of scientific advancements. The minister urged students to foster a deeper engagement with scientific learning, advocating for a shift from being mere consumers of technology to innovators. He emphasized the importance of developing indigenous technological solutions to reduce reliance on external technologies and promote sustainable development in Tripura. In his address to the media, he celebrated National Science Day while underscoring this year’s theme: Women in Science. Debbarma stressed the significance of creating opportunities for women in science, technology, and engineering, suggesting the establishment of scholarships to support women’s studies in these fields and encourage research on relevant issues.
