Soon the State cricketers will be presented with an all weather practice facility

Recently Sagolband AC MLA and Manipur Cricket Association (MNCA) president, RK Imo has announced that State cricketers will soon be presented with an all weather practice facility. Actually this was said during the reception programme of the U-16 boys cricket team who were recently crowned Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate Group champions (2023-24). During this RK Imo, MNCA vice president L Geetranjan, secretary L Ronel, treasurer Ch Nishikanta and joint secretary Syed Sultan Ahmed attended the event as presidium members who also feted all the players and the support staff for their historic achievement in the age group tournament. In fact speaking as the chief guest, RK Imo said the Association is all set to develop a four pitch indoor stadium where players can play and practice cricket throughout the year. He further maintained that efforts are actually underway to further extend the lease agreement of usage of Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium from the previous term of five years to ten years to further develop the ground.

In reality he also highly praised the State team who emerged on top despite the prevailing restive situation in the State and extended his best wishes to the team who will be playing alongside elite teams next season. Actually taking note of the association’s initiative of giving State players a first hand experience of the Cricket World Cup held last year across India, he further stressed on the need of developing three/four standard cricket stadiums where Manipur could host Ranji Trophy. With this the players and support staff were encouraged with mementos, shawls and a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh.
