Sourav Ganguly stands with Tripura in crisis

Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced on Wednesday that former Indian cricket captain and Tripura Tourism’s Brand Ambassador, Sourav Ganguly, has donated ₹10 lakh towards flood relief efforts in the state. The donation will aid in providing essential supplies to those affected by the recent floods.

Speaking at a press conference on World Tourism Day, Chowdhury emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting flood victims. He shared that Ganguly, currently abroad, expressed his solidarity with the people of Tripura, stating it was his responsibility to contribute to the relief efforts.

“As part of World Tourism Day, we will distribute relief kits to families who lost members in the floods, which claimed 39 lives. Sourav Ganguly’s generous donation will bolster these efforts,” the minister said.

Chowdhury also revealed that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will attend the main event at Ujjayanta Palace on September 27. The event will feature cultural performances, including a special appearance by singer Srikanta Acharya. Additionally, unsung heroes who played pivotal roles in rescuing flood victims will be honored at the event.
