K. Vanlalvena, Mizoram’s sole Rajya Sabha member, announced that the Ministry of Railways has initiated special train services between Guwahati and Aizawl to alleviate travel challenges during the Christmas season. The new services respond to the increased demand from travelers heading to Mizoram and neighboring states. Scheduled departures include one train from Guwahati on Monday returning from Aizawl on Tuesday, and another from Guwahati on Wednesday returning on Thursday, each with 14 coaches. This initiative aims to provide relief to passengers unable to secure confirmed tickets due to limited availability on regular trains. Vanlalvena raised concerns in the Rajya Sabha regarding the severe seat shortages affecting travelers from Mizoram and nearby Manipur, especially during peak festive periods.
