Stroke and paralysis survivors share recovery stories at Manipal Hospitals event in Burdwan

A medical awareness programme organised by Manipal Hospitals in Burdwan turned emotional as patients shared their recovery journeys after suffering serious neurological conditions.

Held under the ‘Anveshana’ initiative, the session brought together doctors, patients and caregivers to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and long-term treatment. Brain stroke survivor Abhijit Das, aged 62, shared how continuous care under neurologist Dr Jayanta Roy helped him regain confidence and stability in life.

Another patient, Shakila Banu, a 52-year-old homemaker, spoke about her recovery from myasthenia gravis, a chronic neuromuscular disorder that causes muscle weakness. She credited timely medical intervention for helping her return to normal daily activities.

Shaikh Alam Gir, a 53-year-old businessman, narrated his experience of overcoming lower-body paralysis after several years of struggle. He said that when local treatment options failed, specialised care at Manipal Hospitals gave him a second chance at life. Doctors said such cases highlight the importance of specialised neurological care and rehabilitation. The programme also included discussions on kidney care, preventive screenings and the need for early medical consultation.
