Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh engaged with 40 students and 4 teachers from Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep during their visit to Mizoram under the “Ashtalakshmi Darshan Youth Exchange Programme.” He welcomed the group and encouraged them to explore the region’s unique culture and scenic beauty. The Governor highlighted Mizoram’s achievements in education, noting its full literacy and plans for a State University. He discussed the state’s development since the 1986 Peace Accord and recent infrastructure improvements, such as the Bairabi-Sairang railway line. The programme, initiated by the Central Government, aims to foster national integration by facilitating cultural exchanges. The students, based at Mizoram University, will receive lectures about Northeast India and depart on January 28, 2026.
