Tamdil Lake shines at Saitual District Fish Festival 2025

The Saitual District Fish Festival 2025 brought Tamdil Lake to life on Friday, with Fisheries Minister Lalthansanga gracing the event as the chief guest. Organized by the Saitual District Fish Festival Organizing Committee (SDSKOC), the festival aimed to promote fisheries as a sustainable livelihood while showcasing the tourism potential of the scenic lake.

Horticulture Minister Prof. Lalnilawma attended as the guest of honor, alongside local officials, fishermen, and community members. In his address, Minister Lalthansanga highlighted the significance of Tamdil Lake and announced that its management has been entrusted to the Forest, Fisheries, and Tourism Departments under the supervision of the District Deputy Commissioner. He urged the public to adopt an “ownership mentality” in preserving and enhancing the lake’s economic and tourism value.

The event also emphasized the need for increased fish production, with the minister encouraging local fishermen to utilize government schemes and modern techniques. Prof. Lalnilawma commended the organizers and announced the distribution of 10 brush cutters to the Saituala Tung Ching Association under the Horticulture Department’s Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme.

The festival featured traditional fishing competitions, cultural performances, and food stalls offering Mizo delicacies, drawing enthusiastic participation from visitors and locals alike.
