Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin started ‘precautionary dose’ of COVID-19

On Tuesday Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru MK Stalin took the ‘precautionary dose’ of COVID-19 vaccine and he started precautionary dose for all healthcare and frontline workers.

The nationwide drive for healthcare workers, frontline workers, and people who aged 60 and above with comorbidities started. According to the government data 9,84,676 ‘Precaution doses’ were administered on the first day. Out of which 5,19,604 were healthcare workers; 2,01,205 frontline workers and 2,63,867 were over the age of 60.

Tamil Nadu reported 13,990 new cases and 11 deaths in 24 hours. According to the state health department, there are currently 62,767 active cases of. Yesterday, the Tamil Nadu government had also extended COVID-19 restrictions till January 31 in order to contain the transmission of the virus. As per the order of the state government, people will not be allowed in all places of worship between January 14 and January 18. The state government also said that special inter-district buses for Pongal would be allowed to run only up to 75 per cent of the seating capacity.

The direction of the state government comes after CM Stalin chaired a meeting to review the COVID-19 and Omicron situation across Tamil Nadu earlier in the day.
