TATA AIG to implement PMFBY across 11 Mizoram districts for Kharif 2026

TATA AIG General Insurance Company has been appointed as the implementing insurance partner for the PradhanMantriFasalBimaYojana (PMFBY) across 11 districts of Mizoram for the Kharif 2026 season. The company will implement the flagship crop insurance scheme in Hnahthial, Serchhip, Aizawl, Lawngtlai, Mamit, Saitual, Siaha, Champhai, Khawzawl, Kolasib and Lunglei districts, strengthening financial protection for farmers against crop losses caused by natural calamities, pests and diseases.

Jointly sponsored by the Government of India and the Government of Mizoram, PMFBY aims to improve farmers’ income stability and enhance the resilience of the agricultural sector. As the implementing insurer, TATA AIG will facilitate enrolment of eligible farmers cultivating notified crops. Farmers can enrol through banks, Common Service Centres (CSCs) or the official PMFBY portal before the notified deadlines, while also checking applicable premium rates online.

The company said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to supporting India’s farming community through crop insurance awareness and innovative risk protection solutions. TATA AIG, a joint venture between the Tata Group and American International Group (AIG), has been operating in India since 2001 and currently manages assets worth ₹26,854 crore with a nationwide network spanning more than 220 locations.

In Aizawl, the rollout is expected to boost awareness of crop insurance among farmers and strengthen the rural financial ecosystem. Improved insurance coverage could help reduce income uncertainty for cultivators, encourage agricultural investment and support demand for banking and allied financial services in the region during the Kharif season.
