Tata Motors Limited reported a 49% year-on-year (YoY) growth in total commercial vehicle (CV) sales at 44,411 units in August 2026, compared with 29,863 units in August 2025, driven by strong domestic sales and a sharp rise in international business.Domestic CV sales increased 33% YoY to 36,619 units from 27,481 units. High commercial vehicle (HCV) truck sales rose 42% to 10,612 units, while intermediate and light commercial vehicle (ILMCV) trucks grew 20% to 6,859 units. Passenger carrier sales climbed 31% to 4,701 units, and small commercial vehicle (SCV) cargo and pickup sales increased 34% to 14,447 units.
International business emerged as the fastest-growing segment, with sales jumping 227% YoY to 7,792 units from 2,382 units a year earlier.In Kolkata, the strong growth in HCVs, ILMCVs and SCV cargo and pickups signals firm demand for commercial mobility linked to freight, logistics, last-mile delivery and passenger transportation. Kolkata and the wider eastern market could remain important demand centres as movement of goods and regional distribution activity support fleet replacement and expansion.
Domestic MH&ICV sales rose 31% to 17,531 units, while domestic and international MH&ICV sales grew 29% to 18,920 units in August 2026.
