Tata Motors establishes advanced facilities for the development of hydrogen propulsion technologies

Tata Motors, India’s largest automobile company, has opened two advanced R&D facilities to provide sustainable mobility solutions. The facilities include an engine test cell for developing a Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine and infrastructure for hydrogen fuel storage and dispensing.

These facilities are yet another step forward from the company towards carbon neutrality, while tapping the strong potential of Hydrogen as a clean energy source.

Tata Motors showcased its commercial vehicle concepts at Auto Expo 2023, including the flagship Prima tractor, a heavy commercial vehicle with a Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine and Fuel Cell Technology, and the next-generation Hydrogen Fuel Cell bus. As a pioneer in zero-emission technologies, Tata Motors delivered two first-of-its-kind, safer, new-generation Hydrogen Fuel Cell powered buses to Indian Oil Corporation as part of a tender bagged in 2021. Mr. Rajendra Petkar, President & CTO, Tata Motors, expressed, “We have been investing in the Hydrogen technology for the last many years and continue to be committed for harnessing its maximum potential through research and product development.”
