Tata Motors has strengthened its vehicle recycling network with the inauguration of a new Re.Wi.Re (Recycle With Respect) Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Patna, Bihar. The facility, spread across 5.5 acres and operated by the KalahanuBothra Group, has the capacity to safely dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually across all brands and segments, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. The facility was inaugurated by Bihar Transport Minister DamodarRawat, who said the initiative aligns with the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy and will help phase out old and unfit vehicles scientifically while encouraging owners to shift to safer, cleaner and more fuel-efficient models. He added that modernising the vehicle fleet would contribute to lower emissions and improved road safety across the state.
Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors Ltd., said the Patna facility marks another step in building an organised ecosystem for responsible vehicle recycling. He said Tata Motors now has the country’s widest network of registered vehicle scrapping facilities, capable of dismantling nearly two lakh end-of-life vehicles annually under circular economy principles. With the addition of Patna, Tata Motors now operates 12 Re.Wi.Recentres across Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, Guwahati, Raipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Patna. The fully digitalised facilities feature dedicated dismantling stations for tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids and gases, ensuring environmentally compliant disposal in accordance with India’s vehicle scrappage policy.
The development is also expected to strengthen eastern India’s vehicle recycling ecosystem. In Kolkata, the expanded regional network, coupled with the existing Re.Wi.Re facility in Kolkata, is likely to improve access to authorised scrapping services for vehicle owners in eastern India, support the replacement of ageing vehicle fleets with cleaner models, and create opportunities for recycling-related businesses while reinforcing sustainable mobility initiatives across the region.
