Tata Motors, Iveco combine to build €21-billion global commercial mobility business

Tata Motors and Italy-based Iveco Group have joined forces to build a global commercial mobility enterprise with combined annual revenues of approximately  €21 billion (over Rs 2.28 lakh crore), annual sales of around 590,000 vehicles and operations spanning more than 130 countries.

The combined business ranks fourth globally among commercial vehicle manufacturers, bringing together complementary portfolios across trucks, buses and powertrain technologies. Its network comprises 27 manufacturing sites, 25 research and development centres and approximately 9,300 sales and service centres, supported by more than 73,000 employees.

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandra sekaran said the partnership would accelerate investment in sustainable mobility and enable technology and expertise to flow between the two organisations. Tata Motors MD and CEO Girish Wagh highlighted opportunities in engineering, sourcing, distribution and customer services, while Iveco CEO Ol of Persson said the combination would build on the Italian company’s industrial heritage.

In Kolkata, the expanded portfolio could offer commercial vehicle operators, logistics companies and public transport providers greater access to diverse vehicle technologies. The combined capabilities could also create opportunities for dealerships, suppliers and service networks across eastern India, although specific regional investments have not been announced.

The enterprise will leverage conventional, natural gas, battery-electric and hydrogen technologies to develop cleaner mobility solutions. Iveco will retain its Turin headquarters, brands and industrial identity, while existing customer contracts, warranties and dealer and supplier relationships will continue unchanged.
