Tata Motors posts 37% jump in July commercial vehicle sales

Tata Motors Ltd. reported a 37 per cent year-on-year increase in its total commercial vehicle sales for July 2026, driven by strong domestic demand and a sharp surge in international business. The company sold 39,641 commercial vehicle units across domestic and overseas markets during the month, compared with 28,956 units in July 2025.

In the domestic market, Tata Motors recorded sales of 33,876 units, up 28 per cent from 26,432 units a year earlier. International business emerged as the strongest growth driver, with sales soaring 128 per cent to 5,765 units from 2,524 units in the corresponding month last year.

Among vehicle segments, heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) truck sales rose 33 per cent to 8,973 units, while intermediate, light and medium commercial vehicle (ILMCV) truck sales increased 20 per cent to 6,100 units. Passenger carrier sales grew 25 per cent to 5,938 units, and small commercial vehicle (SCV) cargo and pickup sales climbed 30 per cent to 12,865 units.

The company also reported a 25 per cent rise in domestic MH&ICV sales to 15,435 units, while combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales reached 16,364 units, marking a 20 per cent year-on-year increase.

The robust July performance reflects sustained momentum in India’s commercial vehicle sector, supported by infrastructure activity, fleet replacement demand and improving freight movement.

In Kolkata, the growth is expected to reinforce Tata Motors’ presence across eastern India, where logistics, construction, mining and e-commerce continue to drive demand for commercial vehicles. Dealers in Kolkata are likely to benefit from stronger customer enquiries, particularly for cargo carriers and heavy trucks, as infrastructure projects and regional trade activity gather pace across West Bengal and neighbouring eastern states.
