Tata Projects has entered into a strategic partnership with Canada-based MDS Aero Support Corporation to strengthen aero-engine testing infrastructure in India, marking a significant collaboration aimed at supporting the country’s expanding aerospace and propulsion ecosystem. Under the partnership, the two companies will combine Tata Projects’ infrastructure execution capabilities with MDS Aero Support’s specialised global expertise in gas turbine engine testing. The collaboration is intended to support the development of advanced test facilities required for aircraft engines, propulsion systems and related aerospace technologies as India increases its capabilities across manufacturing, testing and advanced engineering. Tata Projects will take responsibility for several critical infrastructure components associated with future engine-testing facilities. Its scope will include civil and structural works, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, high-air-pressure systems, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning infrastructure, high-temperature exhaust systems, cooling-water systems and other associated site infrastructure. MDS Aero Support, meanwhile, will contribute its specialised capabilities in the design, engineering, supply, integration and commissioning of advanced gas turbine engine test facilities and systems. The Canadian company will also provide lifecycle support, bringing experience developed through projects delivered across international aviation, defence and industrial markets. According to Tata Projects, the partnership comes at a time when India’s aerospace ecosystem is entering a new phase, with growing ambitions spanning aircraft manufacturing, propulsion, testing and advanced technologies. The development of sophisticated supporting infrastructure will therefore be an important component of these ambitions, particularly as engine-testing facilities require specialised systems and coordinated engineering expertise. Founded in 1985, MDS Aero Support has built extensive experience in gas turbine engine testing, with projects delivered in more than 27 countries. The company has also developed turnkey testing capabilities for engine components serving aviation, defence and industrial applications. By bringing together Tata Projects’ ability to execute complex infrastructure projects in India and MDS Aero Support’s specialised knowledge of engine-test systems, the partnership is positioned to address an important infrastructure requirement within the country’s evolving aerospace landscape. The collaboration could support the creation of more advanced testing capabilities while strengthening the integration of engineering, construction and specialised testing expertise.
