DoT grants permission for 5G trial spectrum to MTNL

The Department of Telecom on Wednesday allowed the spectrum for 5G field trials to the state-owned telecom firm MTNL with C-DoT as its technology partner. Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea were given the spectrum in May to conduct 5G trials across select cities in India. "(The) DoT has given spectrum to MTNL for 5G trials in Delhi. It will conduct trials in partnership with C-DoT," the official source said. The state-owned telecom firm will conduct trials in the Najafgarh area of Delhi. Indian government speaks to United Nations about the new IT rules for social media companies

The Indian government addressed the United Nations Human Rights Council about the new IT rules for social media companies. The government told the Council that the formulation of the new rules was necessitated by the concerns over increased instances of abuse of new media platforms including inducement for recruitment of terrorists, obscene content, financial frauds and incitement of violence.
