The 1st Energy Transition Working Group Meet held in Bengaluru

The second day of the first Energy Transition Working Group Meeting under India’s G20 Presidency witnessed serious discussion on moving towards clean energy while reducing carbon emissions. Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh held a bilateral meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart Kanchana Wijesekera on the sidelines of the G20 meeting. 

The G20 members discussed the theme ‘Energy Security and Diversified Supply Chains’ on the second day. They also shared their views on topics such as energy efficiency, reduction of carbon emissions from industries and control of energy consumption. During the meeting, India emphasised on establishing universal access to clean energy.

 India’s Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) signed an MoU with Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle Joint Business Council (IMT-GT JBC) to promote the adoption of energy efficiency. EESL will provide technical advice, project management support, contracting and implementation support to execute select energy efficiency programs. NTPC’s flagship project on Flue Gas CO2 to Methanol Synthesis was also showcased at the event. A study report commissioned under India’s G20 Presidency, “Carbon Level Reduction, Utilization and Storage(CCUS) – Technology Drawbacks and International Cooperation” was also unveiled.
