In Arunachal’s West Kameng District, Buddha Stadium, Bomdila, and other locations enthusiastically celebrated the 76th Republic Day. The occasion emphasized the rich cultural heritage and sense of patriotism of the area. The program featured vibrant cultural performances by indigenous tribes demonstrating their customs, as well as an outstanding parade. The National Flag was raised by West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Akriti Sagar in front of the Superintendent of Police, government representatives, PRI leaders, and a sizable crowd.
Sagar discussed the significance of Republic Day in commemorating India’s democracy and advancement in her speech. She commended the district’s progress and attributed this achievement to collaboration between the people and the administration. She also urged young people to abstain from drugs and expressed concern about the rising problem of drug usage. Sagar stressed the detrimental effects of cannabis on future generations and encouraged farmers to cease cultivating it. The West Kameng Police were commended by the Deputy Commissioner for their efforts to prevent drug use and maintain district safety.
The top vendors, parade teams, and cultural organizations received awards. A message of solidarity, pride, and dedication to the country was delivered as the ceremony came to a close. As part of the 76th Republic Day celebrations in Dibrugarh, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made history by paying floral homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Thana Chariali. The main event, which was held at Khanikar Ground, was the first of its kind to be held in Dibrugarh.
