The Arunachal Saras Mela-2025 generates about Rs. 40 lakhs in sales

The Arunachal SARAS Mela-2025 saw remarkable sales in its first four days, surpassing Rs. 40 lakhs, indicating a high demand for rural goods in urban marketplaces. For rural artisans, especially women, the SARAS Mela provides a transformative platform that empowers them on both an economic and social level. The Mela boosts the rural economy and advances the “Vocal for Local” movement by giving direct market access. In addition to selling goods, the Mela showcases cultural acts by gifted young people, such as dancing, singing, and flower arrangement, which enhances the event’s cultural fabric.

The success of the SARAS Mela 2025 shows that, with the correct conditions, rural areas have substantial economic potential. The occasion emphasizes how important it is to keep funding such programs in order to guarantee the long-term development and self-determination of rural craftspeople and Self-Help Groups. NABARD has promised to continue supporting Arunachal Pradesh’s rural economy’s growth. The Arunachal SARAS Mela 2025 is being held from January 13 to January 22, 2025, at the DK Convention Centre in Itanagar by the Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).

This dynamic event, which is a part of the Ministry of Rural Development’s nationwide program, highlights the businesses and skills of self-help groups (SHGs) and rural artisans from all across India. In front of state dignitaries, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu officially opened the Mela. These booths include a wide variety of goods from all around Arunachal Pradesh, such as handicrafts and handloom goods, processed foods with added value, and distinctive Geographical Indication (GI) goods.
