On November 5, 2024, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.) attended the grand finale of the state’s first international theater festival, Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2024, which left Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar buzzing. The event, which took place over two weeks from October 22 to November 5, included a captivating variety of performing arts from both domestic and foreign venues. The Governor praised theater as the lifeblood of society and a vital tool for spreading social messages during his remarks at the event.
He proclaimed the event to be the biggest and longest theater festival in Northeast India, showcasing its splendor. With more than 33 performances from India and throughout the world, the festival offered a diverse range of stories, promoting cross-cultural interaction and presenting new viewpoints. In order to give viewers insights outside of the stage, the festival also held seven concurrent activities, such as seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and interactive sessions. The theatrical production Tani La Tanyo, which was based on Tani folklore from Arunachal Pradesh and was staged by Riken Ngomle, the festival director and founder of Roots Art and Cultural Trust Society, was a highlight.
Governor Parnaik referred to the event as a cultural renaissance for Arunachal and praised the Roots Art and Cultural Trust, the artists, and the organizers for their efforts. In order to create an enduring tradition that bridges local and global, traditional and modern art forms, he urged the populace to protect and promote their heritage. By fusing Arunachal’s rich folklore with the artistic energy of performers from India and overseas, Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2024 provided a worldwide forum for cultural exchange.
