Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD), a part of the Mahindra Group, is taking a commendable step this Drivers’ Day by awarding scholarships to the daughters of truck drivers through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan initiative. This project aims to make a meaningful contribution by empowering these girls with access to higher education, ensuring their right to education is upheld.
Notably, Mahindra is among the pioneering commercial vehicle manufacturers to launch such a initiative. Selected candidates will receive a scholarship of Rs. 10,000 along with a certificate recognizing their achievements. This initiative represents a significant milestone in MTBD’s ongoing commitment to the truck driver community, which began with the inception of the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan in 2014. The outreach efforts have reached over 75 transport hubs across India, benefiting 8928 young girls through scholarships until now.
Mr. Jalaj Gupta, Business Head – Commercial Vehicles, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, expressed his enthusiasm for the program, emphasizing its potential to enable the daughters of truck drivers to aspire to great heights and providing them with the necessary support to pursue their career goals. The company plans to directly transfer INR 10,000 to each selected girl’s bank account and present them with a certificate recognizing their achievements. The felicitation ceremony is scheduled for February-March 2024 at select locations across India, where 1100 scholarships will be awarded to the daughters of truck drivers. This initiative demonstrates Mahindra’s commitment to improving the lives and futures of these young girls, breaking barriers, and empowering them to dream big.
