Three out of four escapees arrested in Namsai

Namsai police have successfully apprehended three of the four inmates who escaped from Namsai jail earlier this month. The arrests occurred last night as part of an extensive search operation. The apprehended fugitives include Mineshwar Dihingia, an NSCN (U) commander, along with Arjun Kanda and Robin Surin. Kanda was captured in Lekang Gohain, while Surin was detained in Piyong Kachari village.

However, one escapee remains elusive. Gopal Munda, who was held under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, is still at large. Authorities have escalated their search efforts to locate Munda and return him to custody.

The escape occurred on the night of August 17, prompting a widespread manhunt for the fugitives. The four inmates who escaped are Arjun Kanda, Gopal Munda, Robin Surin, and Mineswar Dihingia, with Dihingia notably associated with the NSCN (U) group. The ongoing search underscores the police’s commitment to capturing the remaining fugitive and restoring security.
