Thunderstorms are likely in all districts of South Bengal, said the Meteorological Department

Rain with thundershowers is likely in almost all districts of South Bengal on Tuesday, the Alipur Meteorological Department said. Due to excess rain, waterlogging may occur in some places. Scattered rains are forecast in South Bengal as well as North Bengal districts. However, the amount of rain will decrease compared to earlier, said the Meteorological Department.

The Alipur Meteorological Department said that there will be more or less rain in all the districts of South Bengal on Tuesday. Thunderstorms are possible. The same weather will prevail in the districts of South Bengal on Wednesday. However, the amount of rain may increase in some districts from Thursday. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain may occur in Hooghly, two 24 Parganas, two Burdwan, and Birbhum on Thursday. Scattered rainfall of 7 to 11 cm is possible in some areas.

The sky in Kolkata has been slightly cloudy since Tuesday morning. Scattered rain is likely in the city. However, the probability of heavy rain is high, said the weather office. Kolkata’s minimum temperature on Monday was 29.4 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature was 33.5 degrees Celsius, which was 1.1 degrees above normal. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Kolkata on Tuesday are likely to be around 33 degrees and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Apart from South Bengal, the districts of North Bengal will also receive rain. However, the amount of rain will decrease compared to before. The meteorological department said rain with thundershowers is likely in Darjeeling, Dinajpur, and Malda. Besides, heavy rain is forecast in Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong.
