The Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) has set an ambitious target of earning ₹13 crore profit in the fiscal year 2025–26, as part of a larger drive to position the state as an emerging hub for industry and entrepreneurship. The announcement was made by TIDC Chairman Nabadal Banik during a press conference held on Monday. The announcement follows a remarkable growth trajectory in the past three years. TIDC’s profit rose from ₹4.02 crore in 2022–23 to ₹7.33 crore in 2023–24, and further to ₹9.87 crore in 2024–25. This steady growth, Banik said, is the result of proactive policies and focused management reforms introduced by the state government. Highlighting the state’s commitment to economic development, Banik said that seven new industrial areas are being developed across Tripura, adding to the existing 13 industrial estates managed by the Corporation. These efforts are expected to significantly boost investment, create employment, and strengthen local economies. In a major boost to the state’s industrial infrastructure, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of ₹975.26 crore for the modernization and development of nine industrial areas, including Bodhjungnagar, RK Nagar, Dukli, Nagichhara, Kumarghat, Dharmanagar, Dewanpasha, Dhujanagar, and Sarasima. Banik confirmed that work has already commenced at several of these sites.
The TIDC is also aligning its strategies with national and state-level self-employment initiatives. Projects like Yuva Tripura, New Tripura, and Atmanirbhar Tripura have gained popularity among the youth, providing entrepreneurial support, financial aid, and training. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha envision a self-reliant youth population in Tripura,” Banik added. To support these goals, the Corporation is taking several new steps, including the revival of closed units, allocation of idle units to new entrepreneurs, better rent collection, and industry-friendly policy reforms. Land allocation for industries is now being streamlined under a single-window web portal, making it easier for investors to get permits, licenses, and clearances in a time-bound manner. Security and management efficiency have also improved in major industrial zones. Night patrolling by police has been increased in Bodhjungnagar and RK Nagar to ensure safety and maintain law and order in the growing industrial clusters.
Also speaking at the press conference, TIDC Managing Director Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav highlighted the government’s focus on skill development. Under the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Project, over 10,000 individuals have already been trained to meet the manpower demands of emerging industrial units. With new infrastructure, policy support, and financial backing, the TIDC’s roadmap for 2025–26 reflects a bold vision for economic transformation and inclusive growth in Tripura. The initiatives are expected to not only boost the industrial output of the state but also generate significant employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in rural, urban, and hilly regions.
