Tinder rolls out Face Check™ in India to tackle fake profiles, strengthen user safety

Tinder has launched its latest safety innovation — Face Check™ — in India, marking a major step to curb fake profiles and boost user authenticity on the popular dating app. The new feature introduces mandatory video selfie verification for new users, ensuring that matches are with real people and not bots or impersonators. “Face Check™ is arriving in India at a time when online authenticity has never been more important,” said Yoel Roth, Senior Vice President of Trust & Safety at Match Group, which owns Tinder. “It’s an important tool against fake profiles, bots, and fraud so that people can focus on building meaningful connections.”

According to the Tinder Modern Dating Report, over one-third of Indian users say profile verification is among the most appealing features when evaluating potential matches, underscoring a growing demand for safety and transparency in online dating.

In Kolkata, users have welcomed the update, noting that fake profiles and bot accounts had been a persistent problem. The new verification system is expected to restore confidence and encourage more genuine interactions among local users. Tinder said Face Check™ is rolling out to new users across India as part of over 20 safety tools introduced recently, including Are You Sure, Does This Bother You, and ID Verification.
