Tinder U debuts in India, redefines campus dating experience

Tinder has launched its exclusive in-app feature, Tinder U, in India, bringing university and college students a new way to connect and meet like-minded peers. Designed specifically for students, Tinder U aims to turn campus crushes into real-life connections with a simple ‘Like’ or ‘Super Like’ feature. By opting in with a valid college email address, students gain access to a personalized and secure platform where they can match with fellow students based on shared interests, academic details, and club activities. This move aligns with the increasing preference for online dating among young adults, as a OnePoll survey revealed that 57% of Indians aged 18-25 have formed meaningful relationships through dating apps, with 67% admitting to having dated someone they met online.

Tinder U stands out by allowing users to showcase their college details, club affiliations, and hobbies, making it easier to find compatible matches. The feature promotes authenticity and inclusivity, ensuring that students can form both romantic and platonic connections in a familiar and safe environment. With a significant student population and a vibrant youth culture, Kolkata is poised to become a key hub for Tinder U adoption. The city’s leading educational institutions, including Presidency University, Jadavpur University, and St. Xavier’s College, host thousands of students eager to expand their social circles. The digital dating trend has already gained traction in Kolkata, with many young adults preferring online platforms to meet like-minded individuals. Tinder U’s focus on campus connections is expected to resonate strongly with students in the city.

“Tinder U offers Gen Z a safe and inclusive space where connections happen as naturally as bumping into someone interesting in the library or a college corridor,” said Aditi Shorewal, Communications Lead for Tinder in India. The feature is now available across university and college campuses nationwide, promising a fun, safe, and engaging dating experience for students looking to explore new possibilities.
