Tiny Rs 10 carts to Rs 4.3 lakh splurges: How India shopped on Instamartin 2025

India’s shopping habits took a sharp turn in 2025, with consumers relying on Instamart not just for daily essentials but also for high-value purchases. From a ₹10 printout ordered in Bengaluru to a ₹4.3 lakh single cart featuring iPhones in Hyderabad, the platform’s annual analysis, How India Instamarted 2025, highlights how quick commerce has become part of everyday life.

The data shows that the top spender on Instamart clocked over ₹22 lakh in repeat orders during the year, buying everything from smartphones, gold coins and air fryers to milk, fruits and mints. Luxury and impulse shopping also saw a surge, with a Mumbai user purchasing gold worth ₹15.16 lakh, while festive periods drove strong demand for roses, chocolates and giftables. On Valentine’s Day alone, orders peaked at 666 roses per minute nationwide. Everyday essentials continued to dominate carts, with milk, bananas, eggs and dahi emerging as the most repeated buys. At the same time, non-grocery categories such as gadgets, wellness products and grooming items recorded strong growth, reflecting rising consumer trust in quick deliveries.

Kolkata emerged as one of the country’s most active markets on Instamart, with a power user placing 1,197 orders in 2025. The city showed a balanced mix of frequent essential purchases and festival-driven gifting, indicating growing comfort with quick commerce for both routine needs and special occasions. The trend suggests steady adoption across households, positioning Kolkata as a key growth market for the platform going forward.
