Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has voiced his frustration over corruption within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), accusing certain officials and leaders of undermining the administration and recruitment process.
Speaking at the Council House on Tuesday, Debbarma expressed dismay over the state of education in TTAADC, pointing to a flawed system that leaves schools without teachers in some areas and students without proper instruction in others. He criticized the recruitment of unqualified teachers, saying, “Teachers with just an 8th-grade education are earning over ₹50,000, while graduates and B.Ed holders are left struggling in private jobs.”
He also took aim at the previous CPI(M) government, accusing them of contributing to the downfall of education in the region by providing jobs without merit or proper qualifications. “We are promoting mediocrity over merit,” Debbarma said, adding that state and central governments have failed to offer solutions for these systemic issues.
Debbarma urged for a special package from the Government of India to address these concerns, stressing the need for merging schools and hiring qualified teachers. He also condemned corruption in recent recruitment exams, stating, “We must blame ourselves for this situation. The future of the Tiprasa community is at stake if such practices continue.”
