Toyota Kirloskar Motor and IISc forge alliance to establish mobility engineering lab

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced a strategic collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to inaugurate the Mobility Engineering Laboratory. This initiative underscores TKM’s commitment to advancing technological innovation and fostering sustainable mobility solutions in India.

The joint venture aims to equip the next generation of engineers with advanced skills in electrified vehicle powertrain technologies. TKM will provide substantial support from FY 2024 to 2027, facilitating the procurement of essential equipment like high-speed dynamometers and vehicle simulation software. Located at IISc, the lab will serve as a cornerstone for interdisciplinary research, focusing on Mechanical and Electrical Engineering advancements. Beyond technological strides, TKM actively collaborates with educational institutions across India, including Karnataka’s Government Tool Room & Training Centre (GTTC), to enhance industry-specific skills development and support higher education initiatives.

Prof. G Rangarajan, Director of IISc, highlighted the potential for groundbreaking research and educational opportunities. Mr. Sudeep Dalvi, Senior Vice President of TKM, emphasized the partnership’s role in driving innovation and sustainable mobility practices in the automotive sector.
