Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched the “Scholarship Program for Technical Education And Recognition” (STAR) to support students who have completed 10th standard but cannot pursue higher studies in technical institutes. The program aims to develop the untapped potential of the North, East, and North-East regions, benefiting students from challenging economic backgrounds across 11 states. The event was attended by Chief Guest Shri Jayanta Mallabaruah, Assam Minister of Public Health Engineering, and Toyota Kirloskar Motor CEO Vikram Gulati.
TKM’s STAR initiative aims to enhance talented individuals’ skills in advanced technologies for the growing automotive sector. Scholarships up to Rs 51,000 per year will be offered to eligible students from financially challenging backgrounds, covering hostel fees, educational expenses, and family support. Students can apply for scholarships at select institutes, with a 30% reservation for female students. The selection process involves a written test and an interview.
STAR program students undergo 6- to 12-month internships at Toyota dealerships after completing the TTEP curriculum. Shri Jayanta Mallabaruah, Hon’ble Minister of Public Health Engineering, Skill Development Employment Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, Government of Assam, said “ We applaud Toyota’s commitment to bridging the gap between industry and institutes through their T-TEP program and promoting skill development in our region.”
