Travelers from all across India are pouring into Arunachal Pradesh’s Sela Tunnel region

A recent snowfall has transformed the Sela Tunnel region of Arunachal Pradesh into a stunning winter wonderland, drawing tourists from all across India. Renowned for its snow-covered terrain and below-freezing temperatures, the region provides much-needed respite from the heat in other parts of the nation. The Sela Tunnel, which consists of two distinct tunnels and is located at an elevation of 13,000 feet, is a popular destination for tourists wishing to take in Arunachal Pradesh’s enchanted winter splendor.

Now snow-covered, the tunnel’s North and South portals are popular destinations for travelers seeking adventure and expansive mountain views. The area’s charm has also grown as a result of the snowfall over the Tawang mountain ranges. The cold climate and snow-capped mountains of Tawang provide a much-needed break from the heat in cities like Guwahati. The stark contrast between the serene, snow-covered hills and the balmy lowlands attracts tourists.

The importance of weather in attracting tourists to the Northeast was emphasized by Namgey Tsering, the Tawang MLA. He noted that the snow-capped mountains and chilly climate make it the ideal destination for adventure travelers. A visitor from Chirang, Assam, who appreciated Tawang’s serene atmosphere and distinctive winter attractiveness, likened the snow-covered scenery to Switzerland. Tawang is still one of the most popular tourist destinations in Northeast India because of its pristine environment and stunning landscapes, which offer a well-balanced combination of adventure and tranquility.
