Trekkers investigate a mountain in the distant Arunachal District

The state’s youngest Everester, Tagit Sorang Abraham, led a 10-person trekking expedition that recently explored Mount Kro in the isolated Pipsorang area of the Kra Daadi district. One of the most exquisite and pristine mountain ranges is Mount Kro, which is located in the Kra Daadi district next to Mount Kechi, Mount Kongto, and Mount Raba. Hai Machi, the district’s last village without access to the road, was where the five-day trip started. The group hiked across unspoiled and pure terrain, overcoming the difficult weather conditions to reach 2,600 meters above sea level.

In addition to finding several beautiful waterfalls, they also encountered rare species of birds including the monal, pheasant, tragopan, and great hornbill, as well as endangered fauna like the red goral, crested langur, serow, and musk deer. Rare plant species including Rafflesia and hermit’s spittoon can also be found in the area. The trip demonstrated the enormous potential for wildlife tourism on Mount Kro, an area that is still completely uncharted but provides a pristine setting for those who enjoy adventure and wildlife.

Mount Kro has the potential to become a top ecotourism destination because of its abundant biodiversity and sustainable tourism potential. The Arunbhoomi Multipurpose Cooperative Society and the team members themselves jointly financed it. Mountaineer Taru Hai, wildlife veterinarian and photographer Dr. Sorang Tadap, and local guides Hai Halle (head of the Arunbhoomi Multipurpose Cooperative Society) and Hai Tapak were among the other team members. The first officer to hike to Mount Kro was Dr. Tadap.
