Tripura Cricket Association calls for swift action in floodlight corruption case

The Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) on Monday urged Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan to expedite the investigation into alleged multi-crore corruption surrounding the installation of high-mast floodlights at the MBB Stadium in Agartala. The TCA emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the case, which has raised concerns about the misuse of funds earmarked for the development of sports infrastructure in the state.

The association expressed disappointment over delays in the investigation and called for swift action to identify those responsible for financial irregularities. The installation of the floodlights was part of a larger effort to upgrade the stadium for hosting night cricket matches, but allegations of inflated costs and procedural lapses have marred the project.

The TCA’s demand comes amid increasing public scrutiny of sports-related expenditures in the state, with stakeholders urging authorities to uphold integrity in such initiatives. The association reiterated its commitment to promoting cricket in Tripura and ensuring that resources allocated for sports are used effectively for the benefit of players and enthusiasts.
