Tripura expedites the construction of the NH-8, and the Transport Minister advocates for timely advancement

Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening the state’s economic and transport infrastructure through a modern, safe, and efficient road network. Speaking at a review meeting at the State Secretariat, Chowdhury emphasized that the timely completion of the ongoing National Highway (NH-8) expansion project is vital for improving connectivity and accelerating overall development.

The focus of the project is the upgradation of the existing four-lane stretch from Ranir Bazar Fire Station in Majlishpur Assembly constituency to the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Madhab Bari in West District. The meeting was attended by PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte, officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), senior officials including the Chief Architect, Superintending Architect, and officers of the PWD (National Highways) Division.

A detailed presentation highlighted current progress, challenges, and the interventions required to accelerate work.Minister Chowdhury stressed the urgent need to resolve land-related issues to avoid delays and urged all concerned departments to identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions, ensuring completion within the stipulated timeframe.
