Security forces in Tripura detained five individuals, including two Bangladeshi nationals, for illegally crossing the border into India through Jalkumba village in the Sabroom area. The arrests were made after Border Security Force (BSF) personnel detected the group entering Indian territory.
Sabroom Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nityananda Sarkar confirmed, “Five persons—three Indians and two Bangladesh nationals—were arrested for illegally crossing the international border. An FIR has been lodged at Sabroom police station.”
According to Sarkar, the three Indian citizens had previously traveled to Bangladesh to visit a close relative but became stranded due to unrest in the country. With conditions stabilizing, they attempted to return to India along with the two Bangladeshis. All five individuals are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.
