The Tripura government is set to launch direct procurement of Rabi season paddy from July 26 at Minimum Support Price (MSP), while Mizoram has introduced the ‘Mizo DiasporaHub’ to connect with its global ethnic community.
Tripura aims to procure over 14 lakh metric tonnes of paddy through a coordinated drive jointly managed by the Departments of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. At a high-level virtual meeting chaired by Ministers Ratan Lal Nath and Sushanta Chowdhury, officials from across the state were instructed to ensure transparent operations and timely payment to farmers. The move is expected to provide financial relief and encourage higher agricultural productivity across the state.
Meanwhile, in Mizoram, Chief Minister Lalduhoma launched the Mizo DiasporaHub, a digital portal developed with local tech firm LushAITech. The initiative, spearheaded by the Mizo Diaspora Cell, aims to strengthen ties with Mizo communities worldwide, particularly those migrating from Myanmar and other regions. The platform will serve as a communication bridge, especially during emergencies, and will soon open for individual registrations.
