Tripura makes a significant anti-drug haul; more than 4,200 bottles of codeine phosphate are confiscated

In a coordinated anti-narcotics operation, authorities seized more than 4,200 bottles of codeine phosphate-based substances in Aralia, under the jurisdiction of Sonamura Police Station. The raid, carried out by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sepahijala District Police, Special Task Force (STF), and Border Security Force (BSF), is considered one of the largest drug busts in the region this year.

The operation involved three search teams working simultaneously across 16–17 houses in the area. During the raid, officers discovered a red Ion vehicle (registration TR03E0798) loaded with narcotics. A total of 34 cartons were recovered, containing 3,651 bottles of Phensedyl and 580 bottles of Eskuf.

Authorities have registered a case with the NCB and are conducting further investigations to trace the source of the narcotics and identify the intended distribution network. Officials said the operation reflects the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking in Tripura and the Northeast region.
