Heightened Checks Leading to ‘Exfiltration’ from Tripura, Claims Chief Minister

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has declared that the state is currently experiencing 'exfiltration' rather than infiltration from across the Bangladesh border, attributing this phenomenon to heightened scrutiny leading individuals holding fake documents to depart. Tripura, which shares an 856-km border with Bangladesh, has seen the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehend 57 illegal Rohingya immigrants, 628 Bangladeshi nationals, and 280 Indians this year. Saha emphasized that the BSF has been directed to return infiltrators in cooperation with the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB), following legal protocols. He acknowledged the challenging conditions for border security due to difficult terrain and areas lacking…

Tripura BJP Leader: Pradyot is “using” the regional front to regain political relevance

Former MP Rebati Tripura accused Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha party, of seeking political relevance through the new “One North East” initiative, which he claims misleads voters during a time of stability in Tripura. He criticized the initiative as a sign of an "existential crisis" in Debbarma's strategy, highlighting contradictory statements made at its launch. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Speaking to reporters after arriving in Agartala to attend a large public gathering at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, Sangma said the initiative seeks to ensure that the voices of the region’s diverse tribal communities are heard strongly and collectively. Union Minister Jual Oram requests an NHIDCL report on the Tripura highway’s decline

Union Minister for Tribal Welfare Jual Oram on Wednesday requested a detailed report from the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) concerning the worsening condition of an alternative national highway in Tripura, officials confirmed. The highway, which connects Agartala to Kumarghat via Khowai and Kamalpur, had been upgraded by NHIDCL just a year ago.
