Tripura has achieved a significant milestone in public safety, with its crime rate hitting a record low in 2024, according to Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan. This announcement came during Ranjan’s inspection of police facilities in Khowai District.
During his visit, the DGP highlighted that senior police officials are conducting thorough inspections of police stations and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) camps throughout the state. “We have received clear directives from Chief Minister Manik Saha. These inspections are part of our preparations for maintaining law and order as the Durga Puja festivities approach,” Ranjan stated. He also noted that the police force is concentrating on enhancing internal operations, infrastructure, and welfare initiatives.
Ranjan emphasized the proactive stance of the Tripura Police, saying, “Professionally, we are taking strong action. In the last four elections, no major incidents have been reported.” With the Durga Puja festival on the horizon, Ranjan outlined plans for bolstered security measures. “We are focused on ensuring a peaceful celebration, with extensive police deployment. An order for force deployment will be issued today,” he confirmed.
