Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha held a review meeting regarding the Tripura Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd and the Khadi and Village Industries Board at the Secretariat in Agartala. He underscored the significance of the handloom and handicraft industries, stating they are vital to the rural economy and encompass the state’s rich heritage and culture. To promote these sectors, the state government is actively implementing various initiatives.
The Chief Minister reviewed the corporation’s performance and stressed the necessity for professionalism and transparency throughout every phase of the handloom and handicraft processes, from production and quality control to business development and marketing strategies. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing product acceptability through the integration of modern and traditional designs to meet national and international market demands.
To support this, Saha urged officials to prioritize training programs that include expert trainers from outside the state. Key directives from the meeting focused on strengthening various aspects such as product design development, quality control, branding, skill enhancement for artisans, exposure to innovative designs, and an increased focus on comprehensive training programs.
