Turkish Airlines partners with Google to introduce smart baggage tracking via Find Hub

Turkish Airlines has partnered with Google to introduce a next-generation baggage locating solution, becoming a launch partner for Google’s new Find Hub “share item location” feature. The collaboration marks a significant step in the airline’s digital transformation strategy aimed at improving operational efficiency and enhancing passenger experience.

Under the initiative, passengers travelling with Find Hub-compatible tracker tags or network accessories attached to their baggage can generate a secure location link through the Find Hub app and share it with Turkish Airlines baggage representatives. The feature provides precise and continuously updated location data, helping airline teams locate and return misplaced or delayed baggage more quickly. Passengers retain full control over their data, with links expiring automatically after seven days and sharing disabled once the item is returned. All location data remains encrypted to ensure privacy.

Turkish Airlines Ground Operations Vice President Mehmet Yıldırım said the airline continues to invest in data-driven digital solutions to enhance the end-to-end travel experience for passengers across its global network of more than 350 destinations. Google’s Vice President of Engineering Erik Kay noted that Find Hub leverages an open ecosystem and a crowdsourced network of over a billion Android devices to help users locate lost belongings worldwide.

In Kolkata, such advanced baggage tracking systems could significantly improve customer confidence among international travellers from eastern India. As outbound travel demand from Kolkata grows, airlines offering seamless digital services and efficient baggage recovery are likely to gain a competitive advantage.

Founded in 1933 with a fleet of five aircraft, Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines now operates 531 passenger and cargo aircraft flying to 356 destinations in 132 countries, making it one of the world’s most extensive airline networks.
